What to Know: Covid-19 and Resumption of Play

COVID-19 and Resumption of Play

A Message to our Tennis Community

COVID-19 and Resumption of Play

The health and safety of our Montana tennis family is our priority. Tournaments and leagues are taking place across the state in accordance with parameters set by local government and health officials. Local tournament directors have the right to cancel or postpone their events at any time at their own discretion.

Because USTA Adult League and Junior Team Tennis championships have been canceled, we have more room in the calendar to schedule local play. USTA-MT has organized Flex Leagues in Billings, Bozeman, and Missoula. For information, please contact ajohnson.mta@gmail.com.

As we return to play, please keep the following principles in mind:

  1. Prioritize safety.

Please review the USTA Player Tips and Recommendations before stepping onto a court.

  1. Acknowledge the risks.

To ensure every player is aware of potential risks and recommended safety measures, all players must sign an Assumption of Risk Acknowledgement before participating in a USTA-sanctioned tournament or league. We can minimize risks but not eliminate them.

  1. Report unsafe behavior.

USTA-MT will provide tournament directors with player safety materials, Tournament Play Recommendations, and supplies such as hand sanitizer, etc. to ensure proper safety precautions. We will stay in communication with our TDs and provide updates to them as we obtain more information.

USTA-MT cannot actively monitor every sanctioned tournament. Players are encouraged to notify the tournament director of any concerns regarding unsafe behavior at a tournament. Players may also contact Lauren Olson, USTA-MT’s executive director, lolson.mta@gmail.com, or USTA-MT’s grievance committee, mt.tennis.grievance@gmail.com.
